15 child bonded labourers freed
DH News Service Fifteen child bonded labourers were freed from Athyur in Raichur taluk. The age of the children ranged between 11-14 years. Minister for Water Resources H K Patil, who heard about the child labourers when he was in Athyur during the Vishwa Madhwa Maha Parishat conference held recently, ordered that the 15 children be freed immediately. He directed the assistant commissioner who was present on the occasion to see to it that the children were admitted to school and that the parents were provided with the resources needed to keep the children at school. Responding to the villagers plea that even though the village had adequate water resources, no attempt was being made to tap them, the minister said that he would send a team of experts to the village soon and attend to the matter. |
