3-party forum takes on ‘communal forces’

Hyderabad, June 9: The Republican Party of India, Majlis Bachao Tehreek and the Praja Party have jointly launched a political front called Peoples’ Democratic Front to build a democratic and secular political alternative to the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Telugu Desam in the State.

Announcing the launch of the new political outfit at a press conference, Ramdas Athawale, MP and national president of the RPI said that the Front would mainly concentrate on issues relating to the welfare of SCs, STs, BCs and minorities and other economically backward classes.

The anti-people policies of the TD in the State and the BJP at the Centre would be exposed and people would be prepared to fight against the casteist and communal forces that have combined in the name of National Democratic Alliance. He said the TD has no programme for eradicating poverty and illiteracy and for providing employment to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities.

He said that the State government had abandoned the programme to distribute land to the landless and construction of houses to the poor in the rural and urban areas. Providing social and economic security to SCs, STs, BCs and minorities was never in the agenda of the TD, he alleged.

The Peoples’ Democratic Front would forge alliance with similar political parties, whose agenda was the welfare of these classes, and with those who oppose the TD, the BJP and the Congress.

The Front would also join other political parties on issues concerning SCs, STs, BCs and minorities.

MBT president Mohd Amanullah Khan, RPI State president Bojja Tharakam, and Praja Party State president E Giri Yadav also spoke on the occasion.
