Another death triggers tension in Raighar

NABARANGPUR: The situation in Raighar area became tense again on Monday following the death of a tribal, Boudo Rout, on Sunday morning. Boudo, who was injured in the clash between tribals and Bengali settlers on June 24, died in Koraput hospital. His body was cremated at Jamdodora village amid tight security.

Reports reaching here said the tribals have started destroying shops and houses belonging to the Bengali settlers in Raighar town. They blocked the main road to Raighar via Umerkote by placing logs.

Earlier, the tribals gathered in thousands carrying weapons. A bandh call was also given by them. All business establishments downed their shutters.
