Applications invited to reward SC/ST students

Applications are invited from students belonging to SC/ST community to award prizes for those who have cleared the SSLC, second PUC, final TCH, BEd, final year graduation and post-graduation exams with a first class in the first attempt.

The prize amount for students who have passed various exams is as follows: SSLC Rs-500, PUC, Diploma, TCH-Rs 750, graduation-Rs 1,000, post-graduation Rs 1,250, BE and MTek-Rs 1,500.

The last date for submitting applications is July 30. For application format and other details, contact the Social Welfare Department.

LOANS: The Development Board is offering loans for self employment to members of the backward communities.

Those under sub-section 1, 2A, 3A and 3B with annual family income not exceeding Rs 31,952 for those living in rural areas and Rs 42,412 for those residing in urban areas are eligible to apply. The loan is available under the Chaitanya loan scheme for setting up pumpsets and borewells, silk rearing, retail trade, pottery, setting up saloons and dry cleaning units, carpentry, diary farming, sheep rearing and to buy bullock carts, tractors, power tillers and car.

The last date to submit application forms is July 4. For further details contact the District Officer, State Backward Community Development Board, 9th cross, Shankarmutt Road, K R Puram, Hassan.

EMPLOYMENT SCHEME: The State Women Development Board has invited applications from eligible candidates for loans under the ‘Udyogini’ programme.

Under the programme, a maximum loan of Rs 50,000 will be provided to widows, physically handicapped and members of the SC/ST community and others from the banks. Also, candidates from the above mentioned sections will be provided 30 per cent of the sum as assistance and others will receive 20 per cent from the board. The family income of applicants from the general category should not exceed Rs 25,000 and candidate should be within 18 to 50 years of age. Widows, physically handicapped and members of SC/ST community should provide certificates issued by the department concerned.
