BSP leader urges State Govt to create Haj committee

UNI

DEHRA DUN: Kazi Mouiuddin, senior member of the BSP, has urged the Uttaranchal Government to form a Haj Committee and a WAKF board in the State to look after the welfare of minorities.

Speaking on Tuesday evening in the Assembly during the discussion on the Budget presented last Thursday, Kazi Mouiuddin said minimal provisions had been made for minorities and backward classes in the Budget.

Ram Singh Saini of the SP said the Budget went against the interests of the poor, minorities, students, women and farmers. He demanded that opening of new schools, making the Indira Awas Yojana transparent and providing tubewells to small and marginal farmers be included in the Budget.

BSP member Isham Singh demanded during the discussion that more funds be provided in the Budget for development of tourism, power and industry in the State.

He also expressed concern over the increasing crime rate in the hill areas. He said it was highly objectionable that the tribal welfare department in the State had been merged into the social welfare department.
