Dalit Panthers stage dharna

KANPUR: The members of the Bharatiya Dalit Panthers here on Wednesday staged a symbolic dharna at Bhognipur Tehsil premises in protest against killing of five Dalits in village Jarhana.
The members further demanded to provide Rs 10 lakh compensation to the kin of the deceased family and arrest the culprits.
Addressing the dharna, the state president of BDP Dhaniram Panther said that BJP-led state government and its administration was involved in corruption and the police was trying to create terror among the Dalits at the behest of the state government.
Panther said that police was registering fake cases against those persons who refused to provide bribe to cops. He threatened that members of the Panther would go for mass arrest if their problems were not solved soon.
