Reacting to the political aftermath of the Jehrana killings in Aligarh, the National Chairman of the All India Confederation of SC/ ST Organisations Ram Raj stated that the only way to stop such incidents in the future would be to eradicate the caste system.

Ram Raj, who visited the scene of the gruesome murders, further stated that rather than take any concrete steps to improve the situation, political leaders are busy milking the incident for political mileage. “While one Dalit leader calls it a massacre of Dalits due to personal enmity, another leader calls it an act of the Uttar Pradesh government. Instead of using their position of power to bring about real social change, leaders are further fanning the caste divide,'' he added. He further said that the killings were the result of a conflict between the ego of the Thakurs and their feudal instincts.
