Dalit leaders from Telangana join TRS

Hyderabad, May 8: All the Telangana district unit branches of Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti on Tuesday merged with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.

MRPS State publicity president Chintaswamy Madiga, secretary Mekala Narendar Madiga and convenor Srinivasa Madiga said after calling on TRS founder K Chandrasekhar Rao that they would work for the cause of a separate Telangana State.

They said they took the decision to merge with the TRS as the main objective of the MRPS, to achieve categorisation, had been achieved. They appealed to all Dalits and MRPS activists in Telangana districts to extend their support to TRS.

Other MRPS leaders who extended support to TRS are State Kalamandali president T Ramanna Madiga, State MRPS Mahila secretary Badiga Sobha Madiga, MRPS State general secretary B Galanna Madiga, State office incharge Rodda Murali Madiga, MRPS former president Mary Madiga, MRPS Karimnagar district president K Venkanna Madiga and Warangal district secretary Kannarapu Yerusuramulu Madiga.

Meanwhile, the TRS chief Chandrasekhar Rao and city incharge and former MLA Narne Narasimha Reddy welcomed the decision of MRPS. They said the response to the membership drive was tremendous.

The TRS has set a target to enrol five lakh ordinary and 15 lakh active members. Rao and Reddy said they would launch membership drive in the twin cities on Wednesday and appealed to interested people to join the Samiti.
