Dalit moves HR panel after refused a haircut

Jaipur, June 26: The Rajasthan Human Rights Commission has taken a serious note of the incident where a Dalit youth at Rampur in Jodhpur district was refused a haircut by a barber.

The rights panel has directed officials concerned to ensure that such crimes relating to “untouchability” did not occur in future. The Commission chairman Justice Sageer Ahmed said here on Tuesday that the State Governor Justice Anshuman Singh had written to the panel to take action on a complaint made by the victim. The victim, a resident of village Manaklaw in Jodhpur district had lodged a written complaint about the incident with the police on November 30.

His complaint with the police was pending with a court. The chairman said that the Commission has directed the Jodhpur district Collector and district superintendent of police (rural) to intimate the Commission about action being taken by them to check crimes relating to the untouchability
