DSS demands suspension of Hutti PSI

HUTTI GOLD MINES, Aug 27: The Dalit Sangharsh Samithi, Lingasugur, has condemned the attitude of Hutti police sub-inspector Divakar Shetty and demanded his immediate suspension in this connection. One Nagamma of Kota village had lodged a complaint to take action against her brother who was reportedly troubling her. When she went to the police station two days later enquiring about the complaint, PSI Divakar Shetty abused her and kicked her on the abdominal area causing serious internal damage. She was immediately rushed to the HGML hospital here, where she is recovering, the written plea lodged at the Raichur police station said. The complaint lodged by the DSS also reminded the harassment of a Dalit youth, Shivappa, by the PSI Shetty which was still raw in the minds of the people here. The DSS treasurer, Mr Hanumanth demanded the immediate suspension of the PSI, failing which, he threatened to stage a protest in front of the police station.
