Faridabad, May 17

The All-India Federation of the Scheduled Castes/Tribes, Backward and Minorities Employees Welfare Association (Scewastamb) has demanded the intervention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) into the alleged victimisation of a Dalit and handicapped employee of the Postal Department here. In a letter to the Chairman of the NHRC, the additional secretary general of the federation, Mr Chauhal Singh, has demanded action against those officials of the Department of Posts who were involved in a murderous assault on Risal Singh Rathi, an employee posted at the Amar Nagar post office at Faridabad.

The federation has expressed concern over the action taken so far on intervention of the commission earlier into the case. It says the police report sent by district police was suspected to be distorted as no inquiry was held by the police about the incident of October 18 and November 6, last year. The victim had complained of assault and threats after he claimed to have informed the Vigilance officials about the acts of corruption and irregularities by some officials in the department last year.

Moreover, the victim who is reported to be 60 per cent handicapped was transferred to Aurangabad village, 60 km away from Faridabad.
