New Delhi, Aug. 27: In a stern rebuff to the government, the National Human Rights Commission on Monday said the forthcoming UN conference on racism provides an opportunity to debate on human rights issues including eradication of discrimination based on race, caste and descent, and can contribute constructively to the promotion and protection of such rights.

"This conference provides an opportunity to deal with the vexed issues of discrimination and inequality" an NHRC statement said here.Meanwhile, the Centre said Minister of State for External Affairs Omar Abdullah will lead an eight-member Indian delegation to the meet. .
