Pondicherry, JAN. 17. The Pondicherry-based Social Justice Forum has called upon the Administration to push up the reservation for the BCs from the present 27 per cent to 33 per cent within the ceiling earmarked by the Supreme Court.

Mr. V. S. Sambandam, organiser of the Forum, said in a communication that a meeting of the Forum held recently adopted resolutions urging implementation of a special reservation of 15 per cent in professional colleges and technical institutions for rural students.

The Scheduled Tribes residing in Pondicherry should be recognised and one per cent quota for them should be implemented.

A white paper should be published on the steps taken to fill posts relating to the Scheduled Castes. Mr. Sambandam said that among those who addressed the meeting were Mr. R. Viswanathan, MLA and representatives of nearly 20 organisations.

Volunteers of the Social Justice Forum would hold street corner meetings in five localities and a demonstration on January 31.

Relay fasts would also be held in February in collaboration with the organisations affiliated to the Forum.
