Police atrocity drives Dalit family to death http://www.dailypioneer.com/secon3.asp?cat=\state6&d=STATES Narayan Bareth/Jaipur In a spine-chilling incident, a Dalit couple committed suicide after killing three of their children in a village in Jaipur district. While the relatives of the deceased alleged that police atrocities forced them to take the extreme step, the State Government ordered an inquiry into the matter. This was the third such incident in last one fortnight in which entire family decided to do away with its existence. According to police, Babulal and his wife Sharda consumed poison after killing their three children in Shahpura town. Kajal (2), daughter of the couple, is the lone survivor in the family. The deceased include Babulal (40), his wife Sharda (35) and their three sons---Sunny (9), Kailash (7) and Pawan (5). The incident sent shock waves through the area. Babulal's relatives alleged that police atrocities were behind this tragic incident. The police had interrogated Babulal and his family members two days back and beaten them publicly, said Vinay Kumar, brother of Sharda. The relatives got the dead bodies after much pursuance. The State Government said that no guilty would be spared and an inquiry has been ordered. However, The police have refused the charges of atrocities. There was a heart-rending scene when Vinay Kumar reached the hospital where the dead bodies were lying. He was weeping and crying and it was very difficult to console him. Babulal was a truck driver and living in a rented room in Shahpura town with the family. There, one driver Jogender Singh was also living with his family. Jogender Singh has lodged a report with police, alleging that his two daughters are missing. He suspected Babulal's cousins, Subhash and Pappu, behind this act. Only this month, one Gajanand Maheshwari 48, his wife Bhanwari 45 and son Dipchand 22 chose the same course on June 11 and ended their lives. The reason cited for the suicides was poverty. Same was the story of one Sitaram in nearby Chandva village where he along with his three sons committed suicides by jumping before a passing train.
