Reservation for Somwarpet, Virajpet wards out

MADIKERI: The elections for the post of president and vice-president Madikeri Town Municipal Council (TMC) have been scheduled for July 8.

Sources said the chances of Nanda Kumar, a Schedule Caste candidate winning are high. They added, the BJP would contest for the TMC vice-president's post, even though Tahira Hafeez from Congress may be the next vice-president.

The headquarters assistant, Krishnegowda has been appointed the election officer.

Councillors must submit their nominations from 9 am to 11 am on June 18. The scrutinisation of nomination papers will be done at 11.15 am and the nomination papers should be withdrawn before 11.30 am.

The Election officer, Jagdish Jois, who is also the undersecretary to the Karnataka government, (Urban Development Department, Bangalore), officially announced the reservation list of all the 11 wards of Somwarpet and Virajpet Town Panchayats for the forthcoming elections scheduled on July 8.

According to an official notification issued on June 6 for Somwarpet Town Panchayat, the following are the reservations in the respective wards.
