SC Welfare Corporation achieves 100 p c target

SRIKAKULAM: District Scheduled Castes’ Welfare Corporation achieved cent percent targets fixed under various programmes in the last financial year, according to executive director of the corporation Y Satyanandam.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday he said the corporation had spent Rs 1.78 crore to benefit 1919 persons and achieved 117 per cent target. He said Rs 18 lakh was spent on raising fruit bearing trees on 370 acres against a target of 350 acres. He said that 250 groups were benefitted under the SC Youth Development programme in the district. He said that a nine-month computer training programme was conducted and 22 youths were trained at a cost of Rs 5 akh.

Though it was decided to acquire 100 acres for distributing among 125 beneficiaries under the Land Purchasing Scheme, only 26 acres was acquired and 92 beneficiaries were given land under the scheme.

He said R Annapurnamma, who observed relay hunger-strike before the collectorate for three years, was given two acres in Laveru mandal.

He said under small irrigation scheme open wells have been constructed for 30 beneficiaries.
