Special scheme for SCs in agency areas

UTNOOR: The government would design and implement a Rs 6 crore special employment schemes for Scheduled Castes people in the agency areas of the state, according to Social Welfare Minister K Pushpa Leela.

Speaking to mediapersons at Indravelli mandal headquarters on , the minsiter said that Gurukul schools would be set up in agency areas of Chittoor, Anantapur, Adilabad and Kurnool districts by spending Rs 5 crore.

Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes women would be given training in small scale industries and technical education.

She said many schemes were introduced to provide medicare to SCs, and for agriculture development. Constituency-level committees were set up with legislators and officials to prevent atrocities on SCs and STs. Steps would be taken up to fill up Scheduled Castes backlog posts.

Admitting that the social scourge of untouchability is continuing in certain areas in the State, she said that the State Government is making all possible measures to remove the evil.
