Sporadic incidents reported during Jharkhand bandh

RANCHI: One person was injured, a truck was set ablaze and 55 persons were arrested during the Adivasi Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch (AJJM) sponsored 12-hour statewide bandh which began on Tuesday morning, the police here said.

The bandh supporters pelted stones on a truck injuring the driver and damaging the vehicle's windscreen at Namkum and another mob set ablaze a truck near Itki on Ranchi-Gumla road, Jharkhand DGP T P Sinha told PTI here.

The police arrested 55 bandh supporters from different parts of the state capital for allegdly trying to enforce the bandh. The AJJM is demanding 60 per cent reservation in jobs for tribals.

Major business estabishments have downed their shutters, while many schools are on summer vacation.

Attendance at the public sector undertaking including the heavy engineering corporation and mecon is normal.
