Tribal women to have private courts

BHUBANESWAR: The members of Orissa Nari Samaj, an organisation of tribal women working in 53 blocks of Orissa, have threatened to set up private courts of their own if the State Government failed to check the atrocities on tribal women. The Nari Samaj, in a memorandum to the Chief Minister, demanded that cases of atrocities on tribal and Harijan women be taken up as soon as the first information report (FIR) was filed and if negligence in this matter was reported by more than 50 women, action should be taken against the officer concerned.
