Viewing Babri demolition a crime

Thirteen persons, including the president of a Hyderabad-based fundamentalist outfit, were arrested on Sunday evening for watching a video clipping of the 1992 demolition of the Babri Masjid.

The police said Mahboob Ali, president of the Darsgah Jehad-o-Shahadat (DGS), and his son Saifullah had organised the viewing for a group of 11 at a building under construction in Saidabad area of the city.

The police seized the colour television set, videocassette player and the cassette used in the show.

They said the videocassette contained provocative speeches intended to create communal discord.

The Darsgah has been organising protest rallies in Hyderabad every December 6 to mark the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Masjid.
