Activists of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today staged a demonstration in front of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) office demanding adequate compensation to farmers whose lands were acquired to form residential layouts on the Citys outskirts.

The protesters alleged that farmers in Jakkasandra village in Begur hobli, whose lands had been acquired by the State government way back in 1963, were not given adequate compensation. They demanded that farmers be provided suitable compensation or their lands be returned.

The protesters also demanded suspension of an assistant executive engineer of the BDA for allegedly harassing farmers whose lands had been acquired in HSR Layout. Some of their other demands included compensation for those whose properties were demolished in Koramangala and HSR Layout and withdrawal of the land acquisition notification.

BSP State General Secretary B Gopal, Vice-Presidents Muniyappa and G Venkatalakshmaiah took part in the agitation.
