Congress is against Dalits: Mayawati
Lucknow, Dec. 2: Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati on Saturday alleged the Congress was "anti-Dalit" and had opposed Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's entry into the constituent assembly.
The Congress had always opposed Ambedkar's "entry into the constituent assembly," Mayawati told reporters here, while condemning Congress president Sonia Gandhi's reported statement that Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had given Babasaheb Ambedkar the chance to prepare the Indian Constitution.
It were the Britishers who had ensured Ambedkar's entry into the constituent assembly, the Bahujan Samaj Party vice-president said.
She also warned the BJP and its frontal organisations against attempting to construct the Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya on December 6 saying the, "the BSP would not remain silent if any such attempt was made". The former UP chief minister said she would write to the Chief Election Commissioner to ensure that "no injustice was meted out" to the SCs and STs during the delimitation of seats for the Uttaranchal Assembly
