DSS plans rally on May 15 in Bangalore
MANGALORE, May 3 (DHNS)
The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) will hold a state-level rally at Bangalore on May 15 protesting against the recent inhuman killing of seven Dalits at Kambalapalli in Kolar district. As many as 3000 activists are likely to attend the rally from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
Speaking to reporters here today, State DSS Organising Secretary Sridhar Kaliveera said more than a lakh activists are likely to take part from 27 districts of Karnataka. The BSP leaders Kanshiram and Mayavathi are the chief guests.
The primary reason for the killing is the failure of administration and police. The Government should institute a special court and judicial inqiry along with the CBI probe to expose the political elements involved in the ghastly act, he said.
If the Government had strictly implemented the SC/ST Atrocities (Prevention) Act of 1989, such incidents would not have occurred. Atleast now the Government should wake-up to meet the objective of ensuring safety and security for the weaker sections of society.
The State treasurer M Devadas, office bearers K Rohitaksha, Sundara Ullal, Karunakar Mastar, D B Salyan were present in the press conference.
