Vijayawada, Dec. 5: The Legislative Committee on Scheduled Castes Welfare has asked the Kanakadurga Temple authorities to fill vacant posts reserved for the SCs without further delay.

The committee headed by B Rajaiah visited the temple on Tuesday and inspected the recruitment procedures at the temple. The Committee took strong exception to the temple authority for not filling four vacant posts in the temple for years together. Rajaiah said of the four vacant posts, three were of attenders and one a sweeper.

Rajaiah later told reporters that the committee had found similar lapses in the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams in Tirupathi during their visit last month. He said the committee had warned the TTD authorities to fill the vacant posts before January 2001 failing which the Committee would recommend imprisonment for six months or a fine of Rs 50,000. He said the TTD had issued notification inviting applications from the eligible SC candidates. He expressed confidence that the TTD would fill the posts before the deadline.

Rajaiah also wanted the government undertakings and the corporations to observe the rule of reservation in all recruitments and allotment of loans and shops in the commercial complexes.

He said the Road Transport Corporation authorities in Vijaya- wada were found fulfilling the rule of reservation both in recruitment and allotment of shops.
