Rehabilitation plan for Dalit families
By Our Staff Reporter

KOLLAM, NOV. 2. The Minister for SC/ST Development, Mr. K. Radhakrishnan, has said that a programme for the rehabilitation of Dalit families, which have lost their bread-winners in the hooch tragedies, is under the consideration of the Government.

Talking to presspersons here today, the Minister said a major programme to redeem Dalit colonies, which were in the grip of hooch, had also been evolved by the Government. The programme would be implemented soon with the help of various Government departments.

He said the activities of the hooch mafia were centered mainly around Dalit colonies and the Government had recognised the need to redeem such colonies from the evils of liquor. The Government programme under way would be led by district-level social activists and special component coordinators.
