Dr.Ambedkar Vidhyarthi Aashram was started in the year 1933 at Manmad. The main intent of the ashram was to provide facilities of boarding and lodging to the aspiring students of dalit communities so that they could pursue their education.

Until 1950, the hostel was run in the premises, which were on rent. In 1945, the secretary of the Aashram's Working Committee, Mr. Ramchandra Ranuji Pawar donated one acre land. On this land, the foundation stone was laid down by Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar in 1945. After this Govt. also graciously donated the adjoining 2 acre land (Survey No. 12) for the hostel. The construction work was completed in 1950. Out of the total construction cost (Rs.42,000/-) Govt. granted the sanction of Rs. 23,164. The hostel building was declared opened by Babasaheb Dr.Ambedkar on 17 November 1951. A grand function was organised, which was attended by Dr.Ambedkar himself. NOW THE CONDITION OF THE BOARDING IS NOT SO GOOD, AS GRANT GIVEN BY THE GOVT. IS RS 235/ PER STUDENT PER MONTH(ONLY FOR FOOD), WHICH ALSO NOT SUFFICIENT FOR THE FOOD, AS BUILDING IS OLD AND THERE IS NO PROPER MAINTENANCE DUE TO LACK OF FUND. I HAVE ATTACHED SOME OF THE OLD AND NEW PHOTOS OF THE BOARDING.I AM REQUESTING TO ALL OUR AMBEDKARITES TO HELP TO RAISE THE FUND FOR THE BOARDING TO HELP OUR STUDENTS.
