Mulnivasi Valmiki Caste Liberation Second National Conference 

held with Grand success at Jalandhar

 

The second national convention of Mulnivasi Valmiki castes, which was sponsored by BAMCEF and Mulnivasi Sangh (Student, Youth & Ladies wing of BAMCEF), was organised at Jalandhar, Punjab on 28th April 2002. The Punjab state convention was also organised on 27th April 2002. The Mulnivasi Valmiki caste liberation convention and Punjab state convention was inaugurated by Mr. Maulkiat Singh Bahal, Co-ordinator-International Network, BAMCEF. All the sessions of both the convention were presided by Mr. Waman Meshram, National President, BAMCEF.

          The current problems faced by the Valmiki caste people and their situation right from Independence was analysed through different topics kept on both the days. Prominent speakers who delivered their speeches were, Mr. HarKishan Santoshi, Kanpur, Mr.D.D.Kalyani, Amritsar, Mr.R.C.Sangar, Phagwara and others. On this occasion a book " Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's contribution for the Valmiki castes alias the castes involved in doing scavenging works." written by Mr. D.D. Kalyani was released by Mr. Maulkiat Singh Bahal.

          Special attraction of the convention was the exhibition called as "Khamosh Dastan" Special attraction of the exhibition was the situation in which the people who are doing scavenging works are living, their life style, also why after 54 years of independence the people who are doing scavenging work are slave of Arya Brahmins was highlighted.
