AI India Programme Office :-Program Assistant

 

Amnesty International India-Programme Office needs a Program Assistant for its New Delhi office to work as part of a small team working on programs of membership development and campaigns on AI's concerns and themes by members and others, including NGOs as well as through information dissemination and servicing of members, general public and media.

 

You must have interest in, and personal commitment to, the full range of human rights as well as a broad understanding of political and social environment in India. You must have good understanding of organisational development in the context of a voluntary/membership organisation, campaigning and ability to support campaign and media work. You must have excellent word processing and electronic database skills and ability to draft correspondence, prepare reports, select and edit material to a high standard.

 

You must be willing to provide administrative support to other staff, volunteers and members and cover for others in the office. You will need initiative, ability to manage your own work priorities, consulting when required. You must have excellent communication skills, be culturally and gender sensitive and be fluent in spoken and written English.

 

Working knowledge of Hindi essential and knowledge of more than one Indian language will be an asset. You must be able to work under pressure as part of a team and be willing to travel. You will bring experience of managing a small office including organising meetings and taking minutes of meetings accurately, setting up and maintaining office systems including communication, information retrieval, dissemination and payment control. You must have the ability to maintain basic system of accounting with the assistance of an accountant.

 

The post will be based in New Delhi office of Amnesty International India but involves travel in the field. The recruitment is initially on a fixed term contract for 18 months. Consolidated salary of Rs. 25,000 per month with an increase of 10% in the second year, 27 days leave per year in addition to statutory public holidays will be offered.20
